August Update

I was busy for a while on the political blog and then I decided if I was going to do "art" after I retired I'd jolly well get to it.

Started a collage journal of current events with a Lone Ranger theme. I guess you just have to see it. I'll post a few in a bit, although they look better in person. Also started a weaving on the rigid heddle loom from a study from one of my drawings. I'll post that, too.

Then last week happened. Truck has a rough idle when it starts. It is at the repair shop. Then two, count them two, supplemental tax bills finally came. It has been a year and a half since I bought the house. Then, the pvc pipe to the water heater sprung a leak. Had to take a piece of dry wall out, just to discover a turn-off valve wedged between the dry wall and plywood. Now I'm sawing around the valve. Slow going though because it is hot, hot, hot.

And I was such a happy little camper doing my collage journal every morning!

With the truck gone I thought it would be a good time to clean up around the drive way. Sunday was lovely. Got a lot of yard work done. Who knew you would have to trim cactus? The are looking great. Hardly any rain this August monsoon. The little cactuses looked very thirsty, so I have been watering them, too. Then, after laundry and all, I just shut the water off at the street. What a pain.

I'm trying to figure out why this surge in doing things around the house. I think it might be that my cute new mechanic has the hormones in an uproar. Anyway, I was looking around the house. What to do? What to do? Then I thought 1960s retro. The Fleetwood trailer part was built in 1965.

I'm having a good time and the mechanic is young enough to be my kid. Sweet, quiet, gorgeous pale blue eyes, but very sad looking. Hmmm? Next post will be about decorating grownup hippy 1960s mature. Tee hee!
