I'm real disappointed that I can't participate fully in the Needles Gem and Mineral Club, especially after waiting nearly a year to join. I had no idea that 4WD would essentially be required and that rock processing equipment would be such a big ticket item. Oh, well, live and learn. I'm just going to continue on by myself and I did learn a few things to get me started in this area. It would have been nice to have folks to talk to about this stuff, but I just didn't fit in. I felt they really didn't give me a chance. And they really don't like Gaby, even though they insisted she be included. And to be plain about it, there is one member who is always in my face and taunting me. This member has made me very uncomfortable and I can't quite figure what the issue is. Bottom line, I'm not having fun, so I'm going to become less and less active. They asked me to do the newletter and the blog. But I feel like I work for them. People emailing me and calling me, and asking me when I'm mailing it out. And yet they give me no information on the field trips, no directions, not even when I am there at the site, or they give me misinformation. They all believe I am upset or scared of the trails. What a lot of do do! As with all organizations, a definite cliche has formed, and I believe, like most people, it all has to do with MONEY! So I am splitsville!
PS. I found a review of a book about processing minerals with the bare minimum of equipment and making jewelry, which is all I really wanted to do. I'm reading a lot and think I can do this on my own as well. I'm going to post on desert fibers, waiting for pay day to order the book.
Well, I'm back to Travels with Gaby to post as far as I got in my little geology class, homemade, by me.
The Colorado River weaving is done. Yeah, one project actually done. I'm going to take it to the Art Corner Sat. and my little notebook of pictures at the river for color studies.
Reading Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. Gee, I was going to post the books I thought to read after Plan of Attack. Pretty soon. cu
